Bill Summary: This ordinance appropriates $199,500 ($150,000 from the Florida Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development and $49,500 local in-kind match) for advocacy services provided through the consultant selected under RFP-28-07 relating to issues which impact the ship count and port capabilities at Naval Station Mayport as well as the relocation of squadrons and aircraft to Naval Air Station Jacksonville, as initiated by B. T. 07-086.  The funds shall carry over into Fiscal Year 2007-2008.  The bill authorizes and approves the Mayor and Corporation Secretary to execute a Defense Reinvestment Grant Agreement between the City of Jacksonville and Enterprise Florida, Inc.

 

Background Information: Under the purview of Post-BRAC Strategy, Analysis and Support for Force Growth of Military in Jacksonville, the City of Jacksonville applied for and was awarded grant funds from the State of Florida/Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development for payment of consulting services for work on a number of defense related issues which impact the ship count and port capabilities at Naval Station Mayport and the relocation of squadrons and aircraft to NAS Jacksonville.  The terms of the grant agreement is for twelve months beginning at the agreement execution.  The required local match, in the amount of $49,500, will be provided through “in-kind contribution” of staff services to be performed by the Director of Military Affairs and the AMIO (Harrison Conyers).
