Bill Summary: This ordinance appropriates $3,400,000 ($3,325,800 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and $75,000 from the Special Law Enforcement Trust Fund) for the construction of a marine waterborne operation facility, as initiated by B.T. 07-089.  The funds will carry over to Fiscal Year 2007-2008.  The ordinance amends the 2006-2011 Five-Year Capital Improvement Program, approved by Ordinance 2006-789-E, to authorize a Priority 1 status for the “JSO Marine Dock Facility” project.

Background Information: This facility will provide the JSO Marine Unit with an administrative building, slips to moor the unit’s watercraft and the ability to monitor and respond to waterways activity.  Originally, the facility was to be located at Metro Park.  The operation facility will be constructed at the Arlington Lion’s Club boathouse/ramp/park.  To complete the project, an additional $1,033,600 will be needed in FY 2007-2008 to meet the requirements of a 25% match.  Existing funding will enable site and design plans to go forward.
