Bill Summary: The resolution reiterates the City’s support for the Duval County Health Department proposal submitted to Florida’s Low Income Pool (LIP) Council, to establish an integrated primary care-based health access system for Duval County, as a vital and necessary component in Jacksonville’s health care safety net.  The resolution requests an allocation from the State Legislature for LIP funding for the Duval County Health Department LIP proposal.  The resolution directs the Legislative Services Division to forward a copy of this resolution to Members of the Duval County Legislative delegation.

Background Information: The Health Department proposal that this resolution urges the Legislature to support and fund would make primary care health access a key component in providing health care for the County’s indigent.  The proposal made to Florida’s Low Income Pool Council is supported owing to the fact that there are over 130,000 uninsured individuals in the City of Jacksonville.
