Bill Summary: The bill amends previous ordinance 2004-889-E to extend the pilot program of the JaxCare health care program by an additional 12 months through December 2007.

Background Information: Council enacted the JaxCare health care program for the working uninsured in early 2004 for a 3-year pilot program through December 2006. In April 2006 it was decided to extend the pilot for an additional year through December 2007, and funding was provided in the City’s FY06-07 budget for the extension. However the budget ordinance did not contain language amending the legislative authorization for the JaxCare program to extend its term for the additional year. This bill makes provides for that extension by amending Ordinance 2004-889-E.
