Bill Summary:  This bill appropriates $175,000 from Enterprise Florida, Inc./Governor’s Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development (OTTED) for the design of a wastewater reuse system utilizing the wastewater effluent from the Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS JAX) wastewater treatment plant.  Provision is made for the carryover of appropriated funds into the 2007-2008 fiscal year.  Approval is given for a Defense Infrastructure Grant Agreement between the City and Enterprise Florida, Inc., and the Mayor and Corporation Secretary are authorized to execute said agreement.  The Dept. of Community Services is required to oversee the projects described therein.

 

Background Information:  It is anticipated that realization of the project will reduce base operating expenses, meet new state and federal pollution discharge requirements, improve the water quality of the St. Johns River, accommodate future base expansion and newly obtained operations, conserve natural resources, and improve the environment on and surrounding NAS Jax.
