Bill Summary: The bill approves the placement of an honorary roadway memorial marker in recognition of the work of the late Elder George Matthews, Sr. within the 2400 block of Old Middleburg Road.  It further appropriates $500 to cover the initial costs in manufacturing and installation of the marker.  Lastly, it defines the disposition of any private funds collected to establish this marker and also makes this section a part of 2006-1398-E, which approved similar memorial markers for three other individuals.

 

Background Information: For 40 years, Elder George Matthews, Sr. was the pastor of the Jacksonville Heights Church, which is in the 2400 block of Old Middleburg Road. He died on April 11, 2003.  The roadside memorial marker will be place in a section of the highway in District 10.
