Bill Summary: This ordinance appropriates
$200,000 from the Council District 11 Excise Tax Revenue Bond account for the Fanning Island Park
design/build project in Council District 11.
The design/build project includes walk/exercise path, playscape,
pavilion, picnic facilities and parking.
The bill amends the 2006-2011 Five Year Capital Improvement Program,
approved by ordinance 2006-789-E, for the “Fanning Island
Park” project. The funds will carryover from Fiscal Year to
Fiscal Year and the Department of Parks, Recreation, Entertainment &
Conservation is designated to oversee
funding the project.
Background Information: The site for Fanning Island Park
is located on Heckscher Drive. Once the funds are appropriated for
this project, Parks & Recreation will request bids of the items and award
the bid to the contractor with the most creative and functional design. Other
items in the design/build project include fencing, irrigation, landscaping,
grills, trash receptacles and shade structures.
