Bill Summary: The bill appropriates
$530,000 in Florida Department of Transportation funding for the construction
of trails and trail support facilities at the Cecil Field Natural and
Recreation Corridor-South. The bill also
amends the 2006-11 Capital Improvement Program to authorize priority 1 status
for the project. The bill authorizes the
administration to execute a Local Agency Program Agreement with the FDOT for
receipt of the funds and construction of the trail facilities.
Background Information: Construction on the project
is due to be completed in the fall of 2007.
A portion of the Cecil Field property acquired from the Navy has been
dedicated to conservation and passive recreation purposes. The trail will allow the public to access
this portion of the property for hiking and biking.
