Bill Summary: This ordinance appropriates $100,000 from the Executive Operating Reserve – Joint (Mayor/Council) account, to provide speech and language services to children through early intervention at the Jacksonville Children’s Commission’s Brewer Early Learning and Professional Development Center.  The ordinance waives compliance with the provisions of Chapter 118, Ordinance Code.

 

Background Information: The Brewer Early Learning and Professional Development Center, located on A. Phillips Randolph Boulevard in Council District 7, serves as a driving force to improve the readiness outcomes of Jacksonville’s at risk children, ages birth to five, with special emphasis on literacy.  Provisions waived in Chapter 118 in clued provisions setting forth the method of appropriation and receipt of miscellaneous appropriations, and requiring contracts, reports and audits.
